Akshay Kumar leads Fitness tech startup GOQii’s series C funding round

GOQii, a wearable devices maker recently had its series C funding round in which famous Bollywood Actor Akshay Kumar invested an undisclosed amount.

According to a statement given by the company, in its latest funding round, it hopes to raise $50-70 million.

Speaking about having Akshay Kumar onboard as an investor, the founder, and CEO of GOQuii, Vishal Gondal said, “He (Akshay Kumar) spreads all the virtues which represent GOQii, which are resting well, eating healthy and exercising.”

Gondal also revealed that the Bollywood heartthrob will act as a strategic advisor for GOQii.”

Akshay Kumar also gave a statement as he said, “I am extremely pleased to be associated with such an enthusiastic team, I am a firm believer in the GOQii preventive health ecosystem. In order to achieve good health one must adopt a healthy lifestyle as it can only be developed over a long period of time.”

Notably, Kumar is not the first Bollywood actor to invest in GOQii as back in 2014, famous Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene had also invested in the second Indian actor to make an investment in GOQii. Madhuri Dixit Nene had invested in wearable device manufacturing company.

As per several reports, giving the success of its Series C funding round, GOQii has already held advanced talks with quite a few parties while also seeking assistance from GCA Corp in its quest to find new investors.

Sources close to the matter say that The new funding round could see the company get investments from healthcare and insurance companies including names like Mitsui & Co.
